Grad Who Worked for Rick Owens and Dior Strikes Out on Her Own
Fashion Design graduate Juliana Ponce de Leon has designed and interned for iconic fashion houses such as Issey Miyake, Rick Owens, Bouchra Jarrar, Carolina Herrera, Dior, and Courreges. She also worked with David Beckham to develop a menswear collection for Kent & Curwen of Savile Row in London.
Now the London-based designer is striking out on her own, with a new label, J P L, which she says is an "ode to women everywhere: past, present, and future. It pays homage to my biggest muse and the most influential female of our existence, Mother Earth." The label will have its official launch in November. "I am very excited for my contemporary luxury label to launch as sustainable fashion is the future," she said. "The building blocks of my career are solidly based on extremely hard work, networking, and working into the morning hours."
